The URL consist of the domain name, which is converted into the corresponding IP address with the help of DNS server.
You can also convert your Primary DNS server to an Active Directory Integrated Primary server, instead of adding secondary DNS servers. The concept behind adding secondary DNS server is to avoid any failure. With the following steps you can convert Primary DNS Server to Active Directory Integrated Primary server on Windows Server 2003:
STEP 1: On the current DNS server, start DNS Manager.
STEP 2: Right-click a DNS zone, click Properties, click the General tab, and then note the Type value. This will be Primary zone, Secondary zone or Stub zone.
STEP 3: Click Change.
STEP 4: In the Change Zone Type box, click to select the “Store the zone” in Active Directory check box. When you are prompted to answer whether want this zone to become Active Directory integrated, click Yes, and then click OK.
When you complete all the steps, then in the Domain properties, type will be shown as "Active Directory-Integrated". You can supplement other DNS servers in the domain controller after its replication becomes complete. So, in this way you can supplement other DNS servers, which lead to removal of any point of failure.

Remote Support Services

Remote support services are an array of technical services offered through the Internet. Many technical service providers offer remote support for a range of services. Your system should have an Internet connection in order to utilize remote support services.

Services offered through remote support are enlisted below:

· Software installation

· Virus removal

· Windows upgrades

· System tune-up and routine maintenance to speed up the computer

· Configuring settings for e-mail, or Internet, or Microsoft Office

· Removal of spyware applications

· Troubleshooting

· Internet optimization

· Support for peripheral devices

Along with these services, remote support provides you many benefits. Most important benefit is the availability; you can access remote support from anywhere in the world. You do not have to take your system to any service provider, and no need to call someone at your premises.

You just have to contact any technical service provider, and your issue gets resolved. A technician from your service provider will access your system via remote connection. After that, he will diagnose the issue that is not letting your system perform better and fix it simultaneously.

So, it is viable to say that remote support services are much better than traditional services. You just have to pay once and get access to a wide variety of services through remote support.

Windows Server Support

Microsoft had launched a series of server operating systems under the brand name Windows Server. In this situation, you can either communicate with all computers on the intranet or Internet, but not with both of them. In order to solve this problem, you have to configure a default gateway with the adapter connected to the Internet. This is where the role of DHCP server comes into play.
In case, you want to configure a default gateway on Windows 7 PC follow the procedure:
STEP 1: Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.
STEP 2: Right-click the network adapter that you want to configure a default gateway for, and then click Properties. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
STEP 3: Click the Networking tab.
STEP 4: Under “This connection uses the following items”, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties.
STEP 5: In the dialog box that appears, select either “Obtain an IP address automatically” or “Use the following IP address”.
a) If you configure the network adapter to obtain an IP address automatically, the default gateway is assigned by the DHCP server.
b) If you manually specify an IP address configuration, the default gateway is the IP address in the Default gateway box on the General tab
After completing this procedure, you can configure a default gateway on your Windows 7 PC.

Benefits of Print Server

Print server can be a computer or any device which is capable of connecting with one or more printers along with the client computers over a network.
Print server has many benefits because it lowers the administrative and management workload. A print server enables an administrator to manage and control access to each printer. Three level of printer permissions are available, print, manage documents and manage printer. Print permission is granted to everyone in the group. It allows a user to print documents, pause, resume, start and cancel his documents.
Manage documents permission is allocated by administrator to some selected users for controlling job settings for all documents. Manage printer permission enables the user to pause and restart the printer, share a printer, adjust printer permissions, modify printer properties and modify spooler settings.
Client computer jobs are quickly spooled to print server when compared to printer. The main point to be noted is that while printing large jobs from an own printer, resources of client computer are used and he may have to leave his computer running until printing task gets completed. But with the use of print server, if any job has been spooled to it, then user can shutdown his system without any harm.
Print server can also work according to priority of documents. The document with the highest priority will be printed first.

Windows Server 2008 - Top 5 Extraordinary Features

Server 2008 is one of Microsoft Windows' server series of operating systems. In this blog we’ll discuss some of its extraordinary features.
NTFS - Windows’s server 2008 used an improved version of NTFS, a new system service works in the background that can identify a file system error, and perform an automatic healing process without anyone taking the server down.
Address Space Load Randomization (ASLR) -Probably one of the most divisive included features already, especially since it’s introduced with Vista, ASLR makes sure that no two subsequent instances of an operating system load the same system drivers in the same location in memory each time.
Powershell - It's a part of the shipping operating system: the completely new command line tool that can either supplement or completely replace GUI-based administration.
Server-Core - Windows Server 2008 introduces a variation of installation called Server Core. Server Core is a radically scaled-back installation where no Windows Explorer shell is installed. All configuration and maintenance is performed completely through command line interface windows, or by connecting to the machine remotely using Microsoft Management Console. However, Notepad and some control panel applets, such as Regional Settings, are available.
Windows System Resource Manager- It offers resource management and can be very handy to control the amount of resources a process or a user can use based on business priorities. Process Matching Criteria, which is defined by the name, type or owner of the process, imposes restrictions on the resource usage by a process that matches the criteria. CPU time, bandwidth that it can use, number of processors it can be run on, and allocated to a process can be restricted. Restrictions can be set to be imposed only on certain dates as well.

Windows 7 DHCP Server - Steps for better networking

The concept of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an important aspect for better network in regards with security, reliability, manageability and usability. Now the business has gained a global dispersal leading a healthy competition and better productivity.
Role of IT server
• Facilitates quick access of data over LAN and WAN
• Allows centralized data storage
• Centralized backup
• Implement efficient data security
• Permit resource sharing
• Secure data sharing
IT server should be dynamic in function, it must manage, store, send and process data on 24/7/365 basis. Hence, it should be reliable and secure. To get the job done, it must be equipped with:
• Duel processors; either equipped or capable
• Redundant hard drives or power supplies
• Hot swappable components
• Internet security package and firewall
Different IT servers are required to accomplish different tasks. Accordingly we can have the following categories of IT server.
Application IT Server: These are deployed for managing the multiple applications over a LAN or WAN from a centralized administrator computer. Different work stations are managed with respect to data flow. In order to manage huge application an IT server must have built-in redundancy, monitors for high-availability, high-performance distributed application services and support for complex database access.
Print IT Server: Installation of Print IT Server is a cost-effective approach and reduces the number of printer. You can share a single printer over your entire LAN network. Your print IT server will manage the print file request and sends the file to the requested printer.
Database IT Server
Design and architecture of Database IT server is resembles with client/server architecture model. Total number of applications running over the server is divided into two parts: a front-end running on a workstation (where users collect and display the database information) and the back-end running on a server where you need to perform data analysis and storage.
Mail IT Server: This is a life blood of corporate networks (LANs and WANs). It would facilitate easy, fast and cheap mode of communication. It will manage your e-mail clients.
Web IT Server: It is extremely useful for processing request of web browser through HTTP communication. Hence large enterprises who owns their websites needs to have an efficient Web IT server, so that the customer request can be processed without any delay.
FTP IT Server: Enterprises who have their offices in multiple locations should amend dynamic and reliable IT server, so that the file and data can be shared over the Internet without any issue. Hence, important for both downloading and uploading of a file.
Proxy IT Server: If your server is getting overloaded with client request you can establish a Proxy IT server which intermediates between web browser and real server. Real role is to maintain a time gap and perform filtration of request. Hence, it’s important for the security concern too.

Smart IT support for healthy competition

IT industry has become the backbone of every infrastructure. You write these type of addresses because these are easy to remember. The main point is that any server address is in the form of IP address. Then there arises the need of translating these alphanumeric addresses in the IP addresses. Here comes the role of DNS Server. DNS Server does the task of translating the alphanumeric address into the IP address. This server is required when you write any website address in the address bar or you click on any link. Before the installation of DNS Server, you should have the information about your domain name, the IP address and host name of each server for which you want to provide name resolution.

If you want to configure your computer as a DNS Server, then the following conditions should be fulfilled:

Your operating system should be configured in the correct way. DNS service is based on the correct configuration of the operating system and its services, in case you are using the Windows Server 2003 family. You have to allocate the available disk space. All the existing disk volumes should use the NTFS file system.

If you want to install DNS Server, then follow these steps:

Click on the Start, click on Control Panel and then click on the Add or Remove Programs. After this, click on Add/Remove Windows Components. Then open the Windows Components Wizard. In the Components, pick out the Networking Services check box and then click on the Details. In the Subcomponents of Networking Services, pick out the Domain Name System (DNS) check box, click on OK and then click on the Next. If you are prompted, then type the full path of the distribution files and then click on OK. In this way DNS Server will be installed on your system.

Alteration in Terminal Server's listening port

It is a well-known fact that TCP port 3389 is used by Terminal Server and Windows 2000 Terminal Services for client connections. Alteration in this port is not recommended by Microsoft. But you can change this port. You have to perform this task carefully, otherwise you will face serious problems.

You have to give more concentration while modifying the registry. If you want to change the default port, then you have to follow these steps:

You start with the task of running Regedt32 and go to this key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp. Then you have to find the port number subkey and notice the value of 00000D3D, hex is for 3389. After this, you have to change the port number in Hex and save the new value.

If you want to change the port for a particular connection on the Terminal Server, then follow these steps:

You have to run Regedt32 and go to this key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\connection. After this, you have to find the port number subkey and notice the value of 00000D3D, here hex is for 3389. Then you have to change the port number in Hex and save this new value.

After performing this, you have to make alteration in the Port on the Client Side. Follow these steps to perform this:

You have to open Client Connection Manager. Then on the File menu, click on New Connection and then create the new connection. After executing the wizard, you will view a new connection listed there. Then you have to ensure that new connection is highlighted. After this, on the File menu, click Export. Then you have to edit the .cns file using Notepad. You have to make modifications in the server port, Server Port=3389 to Server Port= new port number, that you had specified on Terminal Server. Now import the file back into Client Connection Manager. Then you will be demanded to overwrite the current one. If it has the same name, then overwrite it. In this way, you will receive a client that has the correct port settings to match your Terminal Server settings.

How to Configure a client computer for automatic domain time

This post provides Server Support Services to configure client computer for autometic domain time. It is a command-line tool that you can use to shut down or to restart a local or remote computer that is running Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0. If you want to schedule a computer to shut down and restart at a specific time, use Shutdown.exe in combination with the at command or Task Scheduler.

Description of the Shutdown.exe Tool
Shutdown.exe uses the following syntax:
shutdown \\computername /l /a /r /t:xx "msg" /y /c
You can use the following switches with Shutdown.exe:

* \\computername: Use this switch to specify the remote computer to shut down. If you omit this parameter, the local computer name is used.
* /l (Note that this is a lowercase "L" character): Use this switch to shut down the local computer
* /a: Use this switch to quit a shutdown operation. You can do this only during the time-out period. If you use this switch, all other parameters are ignored.
* /r: Use this switch to restart the computer instead of fully shutting it down.
* /t:xx: Use this switch to specify the time (in seconds) after which the computer is shut down. The default is 20 seconds.
* "msg": Use this switch to specify a message during the shutdown process. The maximum number of characters that the message can contain is 127.
* /y: Use this switch to force a "yes" answer to all queries from the computer.
* /c: Use this switch quit all running programs. If you use this switch, Windows forces all programs that are running to quit. The option to save any data that may have changed is ignored. This can result in data loss in any programs for which data is not previously saved.

Source: support.microsoft.com

How to Put Files on a Remote Server?

You can put files from the local site to the remote site, generally without changing the file's checked out status.

There are two common situations in which you might use the Put command instead of Check In:

You're not in a collaborative environment and you aren't using the Check In/Check Out system.

You want to put the current version of the file on the server but you're going to keep editing it.

NOTE

If you put a file that didn't previously exist on the remote site and you're using the Check In/Check Out system, the file is copied to the remote site and is then checked out to you so that you can continue editing.

You can use the Files panel or the Document window to put files. Dreamweaver creates a log of file activity during the transfer. To view or save this log, see Managing file transfers.

Dreamweaver also records all FTP file transfer activity. If an error occurs when you are transferring a file using FTP, the Site FTP log can help you determine the problem.

To put files on a remote or testing server using the Files panel:

In the Files panel (Window > Files), select the files to upload.
Usually you select these in the Local view, but you may select the corresponding files in the Remote view if you prefer.

NOTE

To put only those files for which the local version is more recent than the remote version, see Synchronizing the files on your local and remote sites.

Do one of the following to put the file:

Click the Put button in the Files panel toolbar.

Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the file in the Files panel, then select Put from the context menu.

If the file hasn't been saved, a dialog box may appear (depending on your preference setting in the Site category of the Preferences dialog box) allowing you to save the file before putting it on the remote server.

If a dialog box appears, click Yes to save the file or No to put the previously saved version on the remote server.

NOTE

If you do not save the file, any changes you've made since the last time you saved will not be put onto the remote server. However, the file remains open, so you can still save the changes after putting the file on the server if you want.

The Dependent Files dialog box appears.

To upload dependent files, click Yes; to skip them, click No.

NOTE

If the remote site already contains copies of the dependent files, click No.

To stop the file transfer click the Cancel button in the status dialog box. The transfer may not stop immediately.

To put files on a remote server using the Document window:

Make sure the document is active in the Document window.

Do one of the following to put the file:

Select Site > Put.

Click the File Management icon in the Document window toolbar, then select Put from the pop-up menu.

NOTE

If the current file is not part of the current site in the Files panel, Dreamweaver attempts to determine which locally defined site the current file belongs to. If the current file belongs to only one local site, Dreamweaver opens that site, then performs the Put operation.

To display the FTP log:

Click the Options menu in the upper-right corner of the Files panel, then select View > Site FTP Log.

Source: livedocs.adobe.com

VNC Enterprise Adds Remote Printing in Edition 4.5

RealVNC has launched an update to its software for remotely accessing and controlling computers, VNC Enterprise Edition 4.5. Users can view the desktop and control a different computer from within a web browser. The latest version features improved speed and performance, along with support for cross-platform printing and international characters. The company also enhanced the cross-platform chat function.

The new printing options allow users to print documents from a remote machine to the local default printer listed on the VNC Viewer. Improvements to the language functions include better handling of non-English/U.S keyboards and the ability to copy and paste all characters from each language. Users can also transfer content that contains international characters in the file name.

The chat function provides a simple channel of communication between users, with options to start a session from either end. The update also provides an option to launch programs from an icon in the VNC Viewer toolbar, while the server notifies users of incoming connections as a security precaution.

VNC Enterprise Edition 4.5 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, Linux, Solaris, or Windows 2000 through Vista, and can be purchased for $50 per license.

Source: macnn.com

Ways to back up your Windows hard drive

External hard drives and network-attached storage are local ways to back up your files to a physical drive that lives outside your PC. Since network-attached storage devices are typically for the home networker with multiple computers to safeguard from data loss, most people looking for a basic backup option will lean toward external hard drives.

After purchasing an external drive, you'll just plug it into your computer to get started. Most conventional drives like the ultraportable 320GB Seagate FreeAgent Go will trigger your computer to open a separate drive folder, like "Removable Drive F:". Copying or dragging the files you'd like to save from their original folder into the external drive folder transfers them over.

The purpose-built 320GB Clickfree Portable Backup Drive provides an even simpler backup method. After plugging it in, the drive's native software automatically finds and backs up all of your computer's data. Not bad for about $200. If that's not enough storage space for you, there's also the four-bay Drobo for serious data nuts. It's not without its shortcomings, including its high price. For backups, it's best used for creating redundancy in case one of your other drives fail.

Desktop backup software

One of the primary advantages of using software to copy your files is being able to schedule backups of your data, although all programs will let you manually back up data as well. While most people will find online storage solutions the easiest to maintain, desktop backup software has its merits.

For example, for $50, the Acronis True Image Home 2009 images your hard drive, including your programs, documents, music, photos, and Outlook e-mail. In the event of a crash, you can boot it from the PC or from a CD.

Online backup software

Since Microsoft is responsible for your Windows PC, it makes sense that it should take some accountability for your data backups. With Vista, Microsoft does just that with its Windows Backup and Restore Center. Unfortunately, this is only available for Vista Business and Vista Ultimate users.

However, anyone with a Windows Live ID can take advantage of the 25 free gigabytes of storage handed out in Microsoft's Windows Live Skydrive, which also has a sharing aspect.

For total hard-drive backups, you're better off with an unlimited online backup service that encrypts your data. These have a software component that downloads a small client to your computer and uses that as the gatekeeper between your data and the Web. These typically take several hours to scan and upload your data at the first install. After that, they'll only back up changes to your files at intervals throughout the day or week; the programs run in the background.

Hard drive versus online backup

We've looked at hardware and software backup solutions, but which is the best method? As usual, it's not that clear-cut. Convenience, price per gigabyte, and ease of use comprise the main decision-making factors. On one hand, a hard drive carries a one-time fee, usually between $80 and $200 for 350GB of storage or greater. You own it for life. But on the other hand, you'll need to initiate backups manually as the contents of your hard drive change. Since the external hard drive is physical, if you lose your hard drive to flood, fire, or theft, you've lost your data for good. That also goes for images of your disk drive and files you've burned to CDs.

Source

Aten Switches for Improved Server Management

Aten, introduced a new series of Altusen KVM Over the NET switches - KN4140v, KN4124v, KN2140v and KN2124v.

These switches allow one local and up to four remote operators to monitor and control up to 40 servers on a single level, or control up to 640 servers in a two-level cascade. But are these services really valuable? As per my opinion answer is definitely YES!

With these online services, organizations no longer have to worry about their server services and systems or getting them repaired during times of emergency. It is especially beneficial for the small organizations which do not have their own technical support team.

The technicians which offer the remote support services are expert in their field and know how to solve different problems quickly and efficiently. They work as per the requirements of the clients and not only do the repair and maintenance work, but predict for coming emergencies and stay prepared with the best solutions as well. In short, the support technicians put in effort for improving the overall efficiency of the computer systems and servers of their clients.

The other factors liable for the growing recognition of server consultancy and online support include rising difficulty in the field of technology and ease offered by these services. An organization which buys these services get technical support of high quality in the office itself as technical experts take over their system and server administration remotely and repair all the troubles quickly and proficiently.

Although situated in different locations, while repairing a computer system, the remote computer technicians are able to sight everything that is in the computer being repaired, on his computer screen. This is done through desktop sharing. With the advanced technology, both the technician and the user are able to have a control of the system which is being repaired.

Due to the rising demands of remote server support, a number of service providers offering these services have popped out in the market. Some of these services providers offer the services at very low prices. There are lots of companies available just like Microsoft, Dell, HP, iYogi etc. However, while choosing a service provider for yourself, you should always go for the one which is reliable and has a good reputation in the market. This will ensure that you get the best services at the best prices, and there is no breach of security.

Source: articlesbase

Bomgar Expands Remote Support for Mac

Bomgar Corporation today announced a new version of its appliance-based remote support software that includes deeper Mac support functionality and IT productivity tools. Bomgar 10.3 equips IT technicians with the industry's most robust technology for enterprise help desk incident resolution. Used by organizations such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Humana and Johns Hopkins University, Bomgar provides IT help desks a universal support platform to securely remote control any computer for on-demand troubleshooting despite location, operating system or language.

News ImageAccording to a recent survey conducted by the Enterprise Desktop Alliance, 74 percent of organizations intend to keep their Macs and buy additional devices in the future. It is unclear how IT help desks will handle the increased number of Mac support issues with traditional remote control desktop tools as the majority are applicable only for PCs. To ensure consistent, and quality, end-user tech support across all computing devices, organizations need a universal remote support platform that can scale to address a variety of issues.

Bomgar helps enterprises of all sizes better manage and resolve costly technology issues that cycle through the help desk. With the new features of Bomgar 10.3, the company continues to lead innovation in the enterprise remote support market.

The following features are a few core capabilities added to the platform based on customer feedback:

* Mac System Information: Bomgar 10.3 includes new front-end Mac systems information that allows support reps to quickly scan the dashboard to dig deep into hardware or network configuration details. With one click, support reps engaged in a Mac support session can easily access the granular systems information to solve common technical issues on a Mac that would otherwise take a significant amount of time to troubleshoot with traditional PC-based tools.
* Click-to-Chat: The new click-to-chat feature enables an end-user to initiate a conversation with a support rep instantly from the Web, without any download. The flash-based customer chat client runs in a browser, enabling the rep to give the user directions or transfer the user to the appropriate queue before any software is installed.
* Canned Scripts: Canned scripts help demanding IT call centers better respond to common support issues. Bomgar reps can upload scripts for use within a remote support session. The rep simply selects the appropriate script from a list and runs it through Bomgar's command line interface. Scripts can save the support center thousands of hours that would have been spent doing manual diagnosis and repair.

Specifications and Availability

Bomgar 10.3 is software designed to run on the Bomgar Box and is currently available today. Technical specifications can be found on the website at www.bomgar.com

Source: prweb.com

iYogi Acquires Clean Machine Inc.

Larry Gordon, Founder of Clean Machine appointed as President Global Channel Sales at iYogi

New York, NY, May 11th, 2009 : iYogi, a global direct to consumer and small business remote technical support provider, today announced it’s acquisition of Clean Machine Inc, a provider of remotely administered PC security and performance management services. It even allows users to keep working when one of its windows crashes.

This represents Google's long-anticipated head-on attack on Microsoft and its Internet Explorer, which has three-quarters of the Web-browsing market. Google has backed Mozilla Corp's Firefox browser, which holds about 18 percent of the market.

Google engineers and executives call Chrome a "fresh take on the browser," a 15-year-old technology that is supplanting 25-year-old desktop software as the basic way users interact with computers.

"You actually spend more time in your browser than you do in your car," said Brian Rakowski, group product manager for Google's browser project.

Chrome was seen by analysts as partly a defensive move due to Google's fear that the recently upgraded Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8) could be used to lock out Google. Google's core business of Web search and related advertising depends on browsers.

A Microsoft executive said IE 8 gives users control over how and where they navigate, improves their day-to-day browsing experience, and keeps people safe from new security threats. "Microsoft understands that Web browsing is crucially important for hundreds of millions of people, which is why we invest in Internet Explorer so heavily," Dean Hachamovitch, general manager of Internet Explorer, said in a statement.

CHALLENGE TO MICROSOFT WINDOWS?

Google co-founder Sergey Brin said Chrome was designed to address the shift to using software from within a Web browser rather than as locally installed computer applications running inside Microsoft Windows or some other operating system.

"I think operating systems are kind of an old way to think of the world," Brin told a group of reporters after the news conference at Google's Mountain View, California headquarters. "They have become kind of bulky, they have to do lots and lots of different (legacy) things."

Google believes any task done in a standalone desktop computer application can be delivered via the Web and Chrome is its bet that software applications can be run via a browser.

"We (Web users) want a very lightweight, fast engine for running applications," Brin said.

"The kind of things you want to have running standalone (on a computer) are shrinking," he said, adding that he still edits photos on his computer rather than using a Web program.

GOOGLE BORROWS FROM APPLE, FIREFOX

Chrome borrows liberally from other browsers running open-source software code, including Apple Inc and Firefox, and company officials said they planned to fully share Chrome code with other developers. "We have borrowed good ideas from others," Google Vice President of Product Management Sindar Pichai said. "Our goal here was to bring our point of view, but do it in a very open way."

Because Chrome relies on Apple's open-source WebKit software for rendering Web pages, it can run any application that runs on Apple's Safari Web browser, Pichai said.

"If you are a webmaster, and your site works in Apple Safari then it will work very well in Google Chrome," he said.

Greg Sterling, a Web analyst with Sterling Market Intelligence, said Google's entry into the browser market has echoes of the bruising "browser wars" of the late 1990s, when Microsoft crushed Web pioneer Netscape Communications.

But while the competition between Microsoft and Google is likely to produce many improvements for consumers, the likely fallout from the battle will be other browser makers that have only recently begun to pry market share away from Microsoft.

Sterling said Firefox could become a victim of "friendly fire" from Google as many of its users are the same early adopters who are most likely to switch and try a new browser.

"Firefox has softened up and paved the way for Google. Without Firefox, Chrome would not be possible," Sterling said.

Brin said Google planned to continue to work closely with Mozilla, whose primary financial backing has come from Google in recent years. He said he hoped to see future versions of Chrome and Firefox become more unified over time.

Chrome organizes information into tabbed pages. Web programs can be launched in their own dedicated windows.Among Chrome's features is a special privacy mode that lets users create an "incognito" window where "nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged on your computer," according to a Google promotional guide.

Google sees new browser displacing desktop software

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California (Reuters) - Google Inc is challenging Microsoft Corp with its own Web browser that lets users run many applications that once worked only when installed on local PCs, executives said on Tuesday.

Google introduced a public trial version of its new browser software, Chrome, which is designed to handle not just text and graphics, but more complex computer programs.

Chrome, available in 43 languages in 100 countries at www.google.com/chrome, has been designed to download software and Web pages faster than existing browsers.

Web programs can be launched in their own dedicated windows.Among Chrome's features is a special privacy mode that lets users create an "incognito" window where "nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged on your computer," according to a Google promotional guide.

iYogi Announces Launch of Monitoring and Performance Tool For SMBs

iYogi – a leading provider of technical support services with horizons in the US, UK, Canada and Australia – today announced the launch of its exclusive server monitoring tools for small businesses. It is fully integrated with Oracle Clinical, the industry's leading clinical data management system.

-- The system's new zero footprint allows LEO Pharma's clinical trial investigation sites to rely solely on a Web browser without loading or maintaining additional software -- streamlining system and site management.

-- LEO Pharma also finds that trial investigators are opening report pages up to 70 percent faster with Oracle Remote Data Backup Service Onsite 4.5.3 than with the previous version of Oracle Remote Data Backup Service Capture Onsite.

-- Further, LEO Pharma anticipates that Oracle Remote Data Capture Onsite's improved interface and easy-to-navigate case report forms (CRF) will accelerate data entry at investigation sites and improve data accuracy -- factors that contribute to faster data lock at the conclusion of a trial.

-- The company also will use the system's expanded electronic reporting capabilities to facilitate submissions to regulatory agencies, such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), by removing manual processes. The Patient Data Report provides a single PDF file of all CRFs entered for a single patient and presents data in the same form layout used for data entry. Nearly every business in the world relies heavily on one or more computers to run their business, manage customer information, schedules, invoicing, and more – yet most business owners don´t regularly back up and protect all of their computers offsite in a secure location. It seems crazy that businesses take on such risk, look at what the independent market researchers and other experts say:

Gartner

More than 10% of all PCs are lost or stolen

Between 40% – 80% of all vital data is stored on individual PCs rather than servers

Strategic Research Corporation

43% of US companies experiencing disasters never re-open, and 29% close within 2 years

Over 40% of lost or stolen data is valued at more than $5 million

Computer Technology Review

Of companies that experience a Remote Data Backup Service disaster, two out of five will be out of business within five years.

Veritas

72% of companies either have no business continuity or recovery plan, have not tested their plan, or the plan failed when tested.

Unfortunately, most businesses believe that they are safe using traditional backup methods. If you answer No to any of the following questions your business carries a high and unnecessary risk:

1) Do you perform daily backups?

2) Are you sure your current backup is valid?

3) Have you tested your backup in the last 6 months?

4) Are your customer records adequately safeguarded?

5) Can you restore your backed up Remote Data Backup Service in less than 1 hour?

6) Do you have, maintain, and enforce a digital records retention policy?

7) Do you store your backups more than 100 miles from the business site?

In order to properly safeguard your business every prudent business needs a reliable, easy to use, continuous and complete Remote Data Backup Service protection service. And, while there are several online backup services available most are expensive, unintuitive, and or lack critical functionality to ensure your business is protected in the event of theft and unauthorized Remote Data Backup Service access.

For businesses to affordably protect themselves against data loss they require a system that not only automatically backs up every computer after each file is changed but also protects you in the event your computers are stolen. Most small to medium size businesses don´t even realize that they are increasingly targeted for identity theft because they maintain high concentrations of sensitive customer information in one place!

In my experience DiskAgent™ is the only complete, affordable, easy-to-use, data and computer protection service available on the market today. Where others fail to deliver, DiskAgent shines by providing an inexpensive online backup service that also empowers users to remotely track and recover their stolen computer and enable them to remotely remove sensitive Remote Data Backup Service from the missing computer.

It is also true that many online backup providers are fly-by-night operators that quickly go out of business. When you are storing your Remote Data Backup Service offsite you want to make sure it is duplicated across multiple 1st class Remote Data Backup Service centers with proper security safeguards and by a company that will be around for the long haul. The makers of DiskAgent did it right by partnering with Amazon to provide their Remote Data Backup Service center infrastructure using Amazon Web Services.

The bottom line is if you own or manage a business you need to ensure you are adequately protecting your digital assets in an economical fashion. Look for a reliable service provider that provides unobtrusive easy to use and automated software so you only ever setup your backup and protection service once!
http://www.foxriverantiques.com

TeamViewer remote support tool now available for Mac OS X

TeamViewer GmbH today released the live version of its TeamViewer remote vista support maintenance program for Mac. This compact utility, designed to enable remote vista support access of computers via Internet and across firewalls, is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 and later versions.

TeamViewer features cross-platform support, allowing Mac and Windows users to work together and control computers using either operating system; Mac users are able to take over either Mac or Windows computers, and vice versa. The software is available free of charge for non-commercial use, with a range of licenses starting at US$249 for business employment.

In addition to remote control, the software now includes several additional features. With TeamViewer, file transfer between computers is easy, permitting straightforward, effortless information sharing. The client module of the Windows version is also available now. This small executable program does not require any installation; it simply runs on the computer to be controlled remotely. Fast ad-hoc support and troubleshooting are ideal applications of this function.

All functions of TeamViewer software are uniquely created to ensure a user-friendly experience. Launching TeamViewer generates a unique ID code which is then communicated to the user partner by a telephone or e-mail invitation. Entering the ID code establishes an immediate connection to the corresponding computer. With this connection, the computer can conveniently be controlled remotely. Reversing the control direction is possible at any time, allowing both parties to see and remotely control each other’s desktops – an ideal application for presentations and teamwork.

To ensure the highest possible security, all TeamViewer data traffic is encrypted using private/public key exchange and AES 256-bit session encoding. This process prevents any computer in the communication path from eavesdropping on data traffic or decrypting the data in transfer.

“The beta version for Mac, which we released a few weeks ago, is already very well received by several thousand users,” reveals Dr. Tilo Rossmanith, Founder and Director of TeamViewer GmbH, said in the press release. “People particularly appreciate the Windows and Mac OS compatibility, as users act efficiently, independent of the Windows or Mac OS involved. This is especially practical when an administrator must maintain a large number of computers on both systems. Regardless of whether the supported user is still running Windows 98 or has the latest Apple operating system, TeamViewer works properly every time.”

The Mac version of TeamViewer is available immediately and can be downloaded at Three different license options are available for commercial use, allowing businesses to select the software which best suits their needs. The Premium License, available for $1,399, compiles additional features, an unlimited term and can be installed on as many workstations as needed. The Business License, available for $699, features a less inclusive package also offered on an unlimited term. A six month license of the Business solution is available for $249.

Source: http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/17393/

online computer support classes for seniors

The Morris Arboretum, 100 E.
